Implementation

Thirty-six months, four work packages, one sequential design

The qualitative work package runs across years one and two, while the quantitative work package runs across years two and three. Management and dissemination span the entire project period.

Structure

Work packages

The four work packages are implemented with a total planned budget of €150,355 over 36 months.

  1. WP 1

    Project management

    Years 1–3

Coordination, monitoring and risk analysis, opening with the kick-off meeting that formally establishes the research group and initiates activities.

  2. WP 2

    Qualitative research

    Years 1–2

Protocol design, the Norwegian adviser’s visit, translation and back-translation, pilot interviews, fieldwork in both countries, and qualitative analysis leading to the process model.

  3. WP 3

    Quantitative research

    Years 2–3

Item creation, content validity, cognitive pre-testing, pilot and main surveys, factor analysis, invariance testing and latent profile analysis.

  4. WP 4

    Dissemination & sustainability

    Years 1–3

Eight planned peer-reviewed outputs across journals and proceedings, the software tool, practice guidelines and the final dissemination meeting for users of the results.

Deliverable

The reflection tool

A web-based prototype that translates the findings directly into practice, enhancing users’ calibration awareness with the potential to improve metacognitive regulation in real decision-making conditions.

  • A

    Guide

Walks the user through a decision task, first without AI and then with it.

  • B

    Assess

Asks for metacognitive assessments (confidence in one’s own decision, trust in the AI) and records the changes.

  • C

    Prompt

Offers reflective prompts at the points where reliance decisions are actually made.

  • D

    Feedback

Provides feedback on trust calibration, making over- and under-reliance visible to the user.
