Mission
To understand and design entrepreneurship and economic phenomena under algorithmic, complex, and quantum constraints — and to transfer insights into science, teaching, and practice.
EconCS Laboratory
Unto more understanding, unto greater riches
Laboratory for Information and Computational Research in Economics
About the laboratory
EconCS brings together researchers and students with interests at the intersection of information science, computing, and economics — with a focus on artificial intelligence algorithms, quantum computing, and algorithmic entrepreneurship.
To understand and design entrepreneurship and economic phenomena under algorithmic, complex, and quantum constraints — and to transfer insights into science, teaching, and practice.
Established as a planned outcome of a Research Project of the Croatian Science Foundation, formalising the research group at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics.
Social sciences — information science and economics. An interdisciplinary approach with experimental and applied methodology.
Projects
EconCS grows out of competitive research funding and continues to pursue scientific and applied projects at the intersection of algorithms, entrepreneurship, and economics.
Algorithmic Entrepreneurial Process: Reshaping the Dominant Paradigm
A research project that frames entrepreneurship and related economic phenomena under algorithmic, complex, and quantum constraints — and underpins the establishment of the EconCS Laboratory at UNIZG FOI.
Science
The laboratory’s work connects theory and application: from the algorithmic foundations to simulations, patents, and publications in leading journals.
Research into the algorithmic foundations of the entrepreneurial process, distinguishing algorithmizable from fundamentally non-algorithmic tasks, and developing appropriate outcomes.
Development and testing of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and classical algorithms in entrepreneurship and other disciplines.
Development of simulation environments and experimental platforms for testing algorithmic, quantum, and economics models.
Broader scope
Beyond the primary focus, the laboratory opens space for adjacent questions at the edge of game theory, cognition, and the social impact of algorithms.
Outputs
Peer-reviewed papers, conference contributions, and other scholarly outputs by laboratory members from 2026 onward.
